Machu Picchu

Located in Peru, Machu Picchu the Incas built this place, the largest empire in the sixteenth century. Its three main structures attract visitors from all over the world. Intihuatana is a ritual stone. They built it according to the Incan calendar. The Temple of Sun was the main headquarters for various religious ceremonies of that period. They allowed only the priests into that area as the soil was sacred. Lastly, the view from the Room of Three Windows is the three different parts of the world, underground, heaven, and present. There are many tourist class hotels in the city and numerous hikes and tours by the tourism department for a tourist to enjoy the place thoroughly.

The History

Machu Picchu is from the 15th century, and then people abandoned it after some time. Hiram Bingham, an anthropologist, and the professor made its existence known to the world. The local people, however, know about the place for several hundreds of years. The meaning of Machu is ancient or old, and the purpose of Picchu is the mountain. Combining both the words form early peaks. The place has served as a worship place, rest place for the royal family, and location for astronomical observations. As we can see, Machu Pichu was a well-maintained mausoleum. It can b said that around 200-300 high-rank people used to live there as per the size of the citadel.

It is also one of the most critical sites in the heritage category. The location is at a height of 8,000 meters on a mountain in the tropical forest. There is also endemic biodiversity of flora and fauna. It also contains 22% of the flora and 10% of the fauna of Peru. Besides, UNESCO inscribed it in the year 1983 as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage. Lost City of the Incas is another name for Machu Picchu.
