Its economy is centered on coffee production, sugar exports, rubber and potters, small scale farming, fruit and vegetable production and livestock. In addition, French Guiana has a significant presence of French settlers that settled on the area more than a hundred years ago. Many of these settlers were from Saint-Hilaire in the Southwest, where they established a mission and later became the nucleus of what would become Cap-Hex in the Eastern side of the island. As time passed, several French Guiana currency notes were issued including the La Francie du Pays de la Loire.

Not Recognized By European Economic Community

The French Guiana currency is not recognized by countries in the European Economic Community (EEIC), World Wide Web or the United States Federal Government. It is not regarded as legal tender in most countries either. The notes are issued in denominations of one US dollar to one French Franc. The exchange rate for French Guiana currency pairs are very high compared to other foreign currencies.

Most of the notes issued by the French government are in the form of promissory notes, which are the first IOU ever printed in the island. French Guiana currency is different from most other foreign currency because it is not a common currency in the islands. The currency is issued in the form of “guanine yache” or “guanine meunier”. The two coins are distinct and bear the seal of the French government. The “guanine yache” is worth much more than the “guanine meunier”, even today, making it a rare form of currency in the world.

“Guiana Euro” is the name given to this new type of currency. This currency is in the same category as Suriname (Portuguese) and the Caribbean Monetary Fund (CARICOM). The use of the currency was initiated by the French government to help its manufacturing sector. The aim was to boost exports and make the island more marketable. It was also meant to be an alternative to the US dollar and the Euro.

Many companies in France offer the service of selling French Guiana notes in the foreign exchange market. In addition to this, there are many individuals who want to invest in the exotic new currency, either for the purpose of exchange, purchasing, collecting, or selling them. They do not even have to wait for the official release of the foreign currency. For instance, a person can buy the foreign currency today and exchange it to Cairns gold at some point of the week. There are numerous sources of purchasing them from the French Guiana government and banks in France.

Places To Purchase Them

There are many places where you can purchase them: the nearest foreign currency dealer is Guyana, with a surname being the best bet because it is legal, bearer always protected, has a high market value and comes from a reliable source such as Guyana. Suriname notes are usually exchanged at the Suriname foreign exchange market. Other popular places for the French Guiana notes are the Cayman Islands (including the Grand Cayman), St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Virgin Gorda, Bonaire, Windham Island, Turks & Caicos, and Puerto Rico.

Summing U

Unlike most other currencies traded on the global exchange, the French Guiana’s exchange rate is not subject to political influences. This means that prices never change. As long as the surname and the guafenesques continue to be traded, then prices will not fluctuate and there will be no fluctuations in value, i.e. there will not be “special occasions” when the exchange rates are at their favor. And last but not least due to the reliability of the currency, they will always be highly appreciated by expatriates who constantly need money sent abroad.
